Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Delivering search requests to the selected outside service
- Maintaining site speed and availability
- Diagnosing technical faults
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
We do not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Sherman County dockets or personal case records. The site explains how to reach the combined County and District Clerk, other local court clerks, and Texas electronic record systems. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party case profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing practices apply to information submitted through those tools. We do not control those rules. Review the provider’s policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Sherman County clerk, a trial court, a Texas record portal, legal-aid resources, or an outside search provider. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy terms govern. Read them before providing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Outside search providers processing a submitted query
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, it will be deleted after notice.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, concerns information held by government bodies and does not turn visitor data held by this private site into a Sherman County public record. Regardless of whether a statute applies, you may:
- Request access to information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion of your information
- Object to certain forms of processing
